Bar Readers' Course

Method of Instruction

The course is practical in nature, with emphasis on experiential learning. Although learning experiences must occur in the context of particular cases, the skills which it is sought to develop will be transferable from one jurisdiction to another.

The aim is to avoid providing readers with recipe-type information and to encourage a more analytical, individual and creative approach to their work.

The method of instruction minimizes lecturing. The "workshop" method with emphasis on analysis and performance of set exercises, followed by constructive critique and instruction, is preferred.

The use of exercises and instructors from a variety of jurisdictions helps readers develop their skills in the context in which they will use them in practice.
