New Barristers

The NBSC is a standing committee of the Bar Council of The Victorian Bar Incorporated ("the Bar"). As such, the NBSC operates under the auspices of the Bar Council and the Constitution of the Bar.

A new barrister is a practising member of the Bar (ie: Division A - Part I of the Bar roll) who is under 6 years' call.

The purposes of the NBSC are to:

  • examine issues of interest and concern to new barristers;
  • to provide information of interest and concern to new barristers;
  • to advocate on behalf of new barristers;
  • to arrange and promote continuing legal education for new barristers; and
  • to arrange social functions to advance and promote the interests of new barristers.
